Contributions to the Economy

The project presents numerous cooperations with industrial companies in the targeted research sectors (aeronautics, automotive, …) which will be able, with the help of the experimental platforms, to accelerate their R & D work and develop new products much faster than the international competition.

Major innovations and spin-offs

  • Reducing the CO2 footprint of land and air transport by using advanced, more efficient and cleaner engine concepts, integrating bio-fuels into these engine systems and controlling the external aerodynamics of propulsion systems; this will also concern propulsion systems for telecommunication satellites.
  • Valuing non-food biomass and organic waste for the production of heat, electricity and hydrogen.
  • Develop CO2 capture processes for zero-emission energy systems.
  • To control the risk of chemical explosions and to make the operation of major energy systems, such as nuclear power plants, gas transmission networks, etc., safer.
